Bidding conventions. Partner play need work
Bidding conventions. Partner play need work
Unfortunately, Bridge Baron either peeks and uses knowledge from human played hands in its replay or its bidding is non-deterministic (the bidding and even the play sequences are different when I play and when the computer plays the same hand for duplicate scoring. Here is the situation in duplicate play: 1) I am South. The bidding goes in a certain sequence. I make certain bids. 2) Computer replays the hand for duplicate scoring. It starts with the same opening bids, and then bids the same bid that I bid when I bid my hand. So far we have the exact same bidding sequence in 1) and 2). At this point the computer makes a totally different bid than in 1) and because of this achieves a higher score.
Good app for practicing your game.
App is overly robotic and does not challenge the user to improve their game.
Except for occasional inexplicable bidding in expert mode with computer opponents, its worth the money. Advanced mode is actually better for bidding, and even occasionally for play.
Always a favorite for practicing my declarer play. But sometimes my partner is unreliable!
I have used the updated version about 6 times at it does a great job. My wife gets annoyed with the sound on so just quiet the sound!
This is a good app for practicing bidding and playing hands. You have an opportunity to set most of the popular conventions that you play, which is great practice. You can also set conventions for your opponents; again good practice. BUT, my first (and only) purchase of a lesson will be my last. At $5.99 a lesson, I decided to try just one - Unusual NT. Lots of glitches. As an Example the practice hands 2 and 5 were just wrong uses of Unusual NT and did not make sense. And when I tried the fourth level - of all practice hands, nothing worked. I was not able to bid at all. Even if it all worked smoothly, it was very thin and not robust. Definitely not worth $5.99. I wish there was a way to get my money back! Learning to play Bridge from family or friends that are experienced players can be difficult for a lot of reasons. After learning the basics I enjoy playing the computer to practice. The Hint feature is helpful: I make a decision and follow it but click Hint to see what the computer would have done. We have hed some problems playing other family members online where the program times out to soon if one is thinking a long time or has to take a break to refresh a drink or answer a nature call.
I think you could improve the Bridge Baron experience in two ways. 1. Show how my play ranks against all the others playing that hand at the time. 2. Show my trend line over time. Have a look at the Fun Bridge app. It has appealing features that BB lacks. They use some unusual bidding that may be European. I only know American Standard. Thanks for asking.
Perfect app for getting in a few hands of bridge whenever you want.
Prettier screen but slow to respond. Hate the update ... Please fix this ASAP
Love the layout and options. Very thorough for a complicated game.
Man, this thing is aaadictive!
The app is OK, but not excellent. Its bidding is frequently poor with a habit of overbidding questionable suits. Recently, it bid a four card suit headed by KQ three times even when offered alternatives. It does this a lot. Also, it apparently never heard of "trust your partner." Jack5 is much better but is only available on PCs. Its the best of a poor set of choices.
This game isnt terrible but it hasnt been updated in almost a year in spite of some pretty glaring bugs including: - cant undo alertable bids in many situations; - doesnt indicate alertable bids made by West; - completely ignores obvious suit preference signals; - makes some pretty awful bidding errors playing Precision in particular eg will cuebid a suit opponents have bid assumedly stopper asking or strength showing and partner will pass. In addition some missing obvious features like auto saving hands youve played. You can save hands manually but once youve gone to the next hand its gone forever. This is annoying.
Does exactly what it should do. Easy to use. Delivers a good workout. Us cheaters like the undo and review features.
When you pay $20 for an app, is it too much to ask for the app to be updated? This one is using iOS 6 UI controls, and is not optimized for the latest devices. It looks terrible and could really benefit from a visual refresh. As for gameplay, its smoother on the iPad version but not bad on the phone. My biggest complaint is the computer partner, who seems to make some questionable (aggressive) bidding choices. I also feel like the computer opponents consistently get better deals over many hands, but that could be me not keeping track of my good hands. Overall Im happy with the app, I just wish it got some TLC from the developers, especially considering what they charge for it.
Good program but the host leaving online closes the table and that is a bad idea. It needs to switch to the next entered seat. Also, an easier way to type notes is a desirable improvement. The bridge program as usual for this provider is excellent. The interface as noted needs work. Also the rating system and inability to play at certain levels past on past performance is only understood after. Leaving a bad partner would help keep score high and I neglected to do that. Ultimately this locked me out. This is not fair.
Good to pass time! Causes screen to lock up in extra zoom setting sometimes while tapping on the screen. Definitely needs upgrade for iOS 8 ASAP.
