Bridge Baron App Reviews

Bridge

Would like to be able to review bidding. Overall, I like it the app.

Bridge baron

Limited ability to set bidding and no control over partner it seems, unclear instructions on how to achieve setting bidding rules for partner. Crude app but if you ignore the bidding part, do some creative work to get to the contract you should play in, at least you can then play it out. Playing the hand is only good part of app.

Unfair advantage

I love the speed and quick advice on the duplicate system, but the computer bids differently than my "computer" partner almost always to the computers advantage. The lead is often different as well. Perhaps this can be fixed.

Horrible

Simply horrible

Tough to Rate

This app is hard to rate. The game play is generally good. The AI players are generally good. The layout and gameplay is generally good. But it costs $20, so I expect a much better app. There are lots of bugs and few updates to address them. Bugs that Ive noticed include: the inability to edit custom deals, difficulty playing custom deals, Im not quite sure the convention switches work right, the Interpret bids isnt right all the time (sometimes way off), I think the AI in higher difficulty modes sometimes plays random cards (for example, as declarer, LHO leads K to dummys AQ at the Barons table - just a terrible play). There are some smaller things that are a little annoying about the app, too, but theyre small. Id like to give it 5 stars, but I just cant given the price.

Badly needs updates

This is a great program generally. It is very competitive. But I agree with others who have rated it that it badly needs updating. On 4 bids it aggressively over bids to the five level frequently and I double and defeat those bids from 5 to 7 tricks constantly. Please fix and update this app.

Very nice bridge companion

It is my go-to game when I need to take a break. Good playing in single mode. The master level should be faster though, as it forces me into advanced at most.

Too many errors in some lessons.

While the overall product is quite useful, there is a disturbing lack of quality control in some of the lessons, particularly for a product of this price. For example, the lesson on "Michaels Cue Bids" is riddled with errors.

Some improvement

Interm diff 1c opening sets as short club. I opened 1c with akx my baron pd passed with a singleton club. Also goes crazy or dumb sometimes. Good improvement since last patch. Please correct one more. My baron pd dumped 10 of heart when opp led ace of spade from last 3: ace king of spade and 8 of heart for her 6nt. This happened before on several occasion. Its a noob mistake.

Tournaments

I like to keep on trying to improve my game.

Entering you hand

App does not work. I tried to get support but no help. The app needs an update to correct app.

Not working

Liked this a lot. But now the feature to play with others isnt working. It needs a fix.

Hmmmm

Some of the hint prompts in the lessons do not accurately reflect the actual hand Im looking at AND there are so many misspelled words in the lesson text that I cant help but wonder if anyone on the design team actually proofread and edited. Makes me question the legitimacy of the lesson itself.

Knocks me off line when I set up a table - how do I contact the makers?

Play is good for one against bots. But I cant get into an online game - as soon as I set up a table, the app crashes and throws me back onto my home screen of IPad or iPhone. Cannot find a way to get help. Maybe its obvious to the casual observer - but not to me!

Gameplay is fine; online is awful

The gameplay is fine, but dont try to use any of the online features, such as Lessons. They require a login to the developer, which doesnt seem to work. I used my password to the developers web site and was told its invalid several times. I tried to set up a new account, but was told the user name was taken (it is--by me). To top it all off, the password cant be longer than 10 characters--straight out of the 1990s. Very disappointed, and I wont recommend the app.

Online completely broken

I thought it would be fun to play online with my wife, but the login process is completely broken, both through the web and in the app. There is no way to do a local shared game, you must be logged in to their server, which is completely unusable. If you are willing to pay $20 for an OK stand-alone bridge game, then maybe this is worth it. But you should NOT expect to get any online play out of this whatsoever. Lame.

Barrons Bridge

I hate this game. your partner will often times bid and then rebid its response suit with 4 high card points and four cards in its bid suit ( say 2,3, 5, 7). Ignorant programming. Also, the only time you would want to buy this game is if you like to attempt setting your opponents when they have over whelming high card points. Its very hard to win. Do not buy unless you are desperate and enjoy depression. They also sell, at a high price, lessons. Don,t really like them either.

Zero stars - horrible

$20 you expect a lot more. Its slow, constant disconnects. How hard can it be ?

Major disappointment

Now switches to duplicate on its own. Bids are often ridiculous. PC version much better. Would never buy this ap again. It is organized well, but Im already getting repeat hands. Also, there is no doubt that some of the hints are just plain wrong. I replay the hand and do not use the hints for better results.

Pricey and Tech Support is non-existent

Pros: Its better than the other bridge games out there. Ive downloaded a couple of them. Cons: A) $20 is a lot for an app. B) Im having problems with the Jacoby Transfer setting (turning it off) and it wont let me. I sent an email to tech support and its been days. Ive yet to get a reply.
