Bridge Baron App Reviews

Using bridge Baron 3.52. I play contract bridge with a computer partner against two computer opponents. I find the hands dealt are favored towards East/West. East/West has a far greater proportion of 6 and 7 card suits than North/South. North/South has a higher proportion of doubleton suits with Q or J, and singleton suits with K. My partner bids far, far less frequently than either East/West. Facecards for North/South have higher ranking facecards to their right than East/West much more frequently. Frequency of Honors is much, much higher for East/West than North/South. I suspect this is done so that one does not win all the time; still, I find it frustrating at times. Update 12/31/2015: After a few more years with the app, I can say that the more you play with it the more you realize how skewed the deals are to East/West. Its incredibly annoying. East/west almost always have a bidable suit with 4 card support with a face card. North/South almost always have 1 or 2 cards in your partners suit. When declarer, trump splits are outrageous-- 4-0 or 5-0 are not uncommon. When defense, splits are usually 2-2 or 2-1. Finesses go against you at least 85% of the time. East/West open at least 90% of the time. Your partner passes on open at least 80% of the time. Its very, very frustrating.

Basic Game is Good, Purchases Terrible

The basic $19.99 app will give you a pretty good game of bridge with relatively decent computer partners and opponents. The in-app purchases are buggy and broken and the support is non-existent. If you avoid those, your life will be better.

Frustrating

Game might be good but I may never know because the sign in/ set up account didnt work. Paid $20 for nothing.

Random?

As a beginner, I found this most helpful, particularly the hints. However the deal is seemingly not random. I have not run the math, but it is not unusual to go 5 + deals and never have more than 8 points. Pass, pass, pass. Also it is not unusual when the rubber is on the line for the opposition to be dealt a slam dunk hand. This is not my imagination. Takes the fun out of the game.
